Getting the rubber to the road

DDG TEMPLATE 1

Now that there is going to be some solid earth under my britches its time that things at least for the UAITA gets put into gear. Media presence is not only needed but required. That being said, my first mission in life is to get me going towing again. That means finishing the cosmetic and mechanical improvements on all 3 of the trucks I own, LiL Lexi, Lexi herself and Big Mama. That requires shop space which is in limited supply here in GF, not impossible just not that much of it. Sure I still have the shop in Rupert and all that, but with fuel prices and all going down there all the time while for the short haul will be, the long haul wont make it. I saw some spaces in both Bliss as well as Hazzard, so that will be that when I find I begin that grind. That being put down on the pavement, there will be about six months or so that I will have some spare time. The first thing that needs to be done is establishing a really good web site. Now the streaming service we as a group looked at once , now is not that far of a drive, so that is the first mile on this long road. Once that is going  streaming IP Radio thing needs to be done. While for a very short while that can be done at the new Wolf's Den and all with gear from both Radio Shack and some high end stuff, including a new computer with all the proper software. However the big gun is the over the air station. We have teasing that ever since we as a group shut down the station over yonder in Hazzard in 1985. Our original idea for call letters are still available, and from doing a bunch of looking on the Internet from consol to transmitter is while expensive not an unreachable fruit. But before that happens, first a FCC, Construction Permit needs to be applied for and granted. That will take time, but the FCC does not grant CP's as they are called to areas without a good allocation. In our part of the world there are two really good ones. One is right here near GF, over in Hammett. The other is down near American Falls at Raft River, going to eastern Idaho is not an option at least for me and for quite sometime, I don't even want to think anything Eastern Idaho. So that leaves Hammett. Another allocation is near Buhl here in western Idaho so I am going to consult our attorneys and all to get that paper work going. Between now and then, the streaming station will allow us to perfect the format and programing for the over the air station. As said until such time as there becomes a need for outside on air talent, the streaming station can run into the pipeline from my new house at least new to me, its really not a new house, but ya'll git the idea. Once all that is complete we really need to establish an organizational HQ. Up to now the HQ has been split between where I live and at whoever's in the seat of Prezz of the group. Which does not allow for a full time staff etc to manage the affairs of those who join our organization for us to manage those affairs. Once the HQ is established, the web site up and running at warp speed, and all that then, and only then should we try to snag help or input from outside media that includes recruiting female model talent etc. As far as that is concerned. Boise has about 4 fair talent agencies. So for once we can hire out of there not the way we did in both Utah, Wyoming and of course Pocatello. Looking back if we had not stuck our tent in the wind in Pocatello looking for talent etc there perhaps the bad feelings that came about there, might not have came about. We also need to start beating the bushes looking for sponsors. There is just so much money in the pot and that is about done for. Between the losses in Utah and Wyoming there is not a heap amount to do much more than what I have outlined herein. I talked with the bean counter Kelly, on the IP last night , after I could not sleep, because could not go to the crapper very well, so I did some last bit work, to let some of ya'll know wuzz up. Kelly sezz there is enuff in the pot to do the website, and later the HQ that's all. No Dixie Diesel Nationals etc this year. Finally for the Road Resque bunch. I'm going to give a double L, to Cactus Pete's in Jackpot next week to book our fall get-it-together. As far as the UAITA, I think that will go down in Boise, but Less has yet to let me know where, will report on where that is when I know. Both Less and Kelly told me that most likely be a New Years or Valentines Day thing, combined with a think tank meeting. Now to bring this to a close, so I can get in the head and try to snag some sleep so I can finish my move, could use some help by the way, but to close this. My double L will be down in about a week. The reason is simple, I just did not have $'s to pay that and finish the move, but will Git-R-Done 10-01. But will have email and Inet so get in touch with me that way. More next week after I get this all straightened out. Keep it tween the ditches.

My what a few miles makes.

DDG T1

So there I was trucking over I-86 the sub highway that runs from just outside of Burley to connect to I-15 at Pocatello. Seemz as though LiL Lexi did not want to return to Pocatello so I could fetch more of my stuff in the relocation project from Pocatello to Glenn's Ferry. As I just got past the split of I-84/I-86 that near bald tire blew, just short of the old Raft River Store. Now what made this worse is that one damn ass lug nut was galled so bad that it was not coming off with just a lug wrench. This was going to take an air impact. So I made a call to Commercial Tire, of Burley. In about an hour waiting and watching some black bug try to stay on a twig here came the tire guy. His name was Jesus. No kidding. Not only did Jesus fix the tire fix the lug stud and all, but too let me go on my word for payment. A $250.00 bill by the way. Would anyone in the tire bizz in Pocatello do that ? Somehow I do not think so. Was it because good old Southern Steele Xpress and all is known better in Burley, a company two buttheads in Pocatello sezz don't exist, but does. Was it the kindness of someone in a real fix? Or is it that Pocatello is so money hungry? Or a combination of all of that? In my opinion its the last one. Yet in Rupert I rent a shop, for $200.00 a month that includes electricity, and yet can't find one nearly that cheap in Pocatello. I did see some things here recently that once again started me second thinking again but after today, I'm more intent on setting my tent in the wind and getting my behind out of here. Okay nuff Pocatello bashing. I saw several opportunities in Bliss. The old Oxbow Cafe there closed up, boarded up, ye ole RoadRunner Texaco Truck Stop dead on its feet, and trucking down through Hazzard stopped at Larry & Mary's Cafe there and saw that up for sale, as well as two possible shop locations. With Glenn's Ferry only a mere 25 to 30 miles shy of Hazzard this does make my dream of reigniting thins there much stronger. Maybe Hazzard truly needs me. God hazz weird wayz of telling us to do things, I'm getting the idea this was my time to rediscover Hazzard County. Well need sleep big day in the AM so will catch all in the PM, good numbers to ya'll keep it tween the ditches.

Proposed 4 day work week, my what a lazy nation no wonder so many are broke

GAZZETTE1

Dig this gear splitters, the Federal Government is about to enact rules on getting folks to work less. Utah is looking at it and the states of California and Idaho are considering it . What I'm ratchet jawing about is a 4 day per week work week. What we don't have enuff dayz to just sit on our butts? As it is the mail is slower than a 9 year itch, never gets to you on time and expect either killing off Saturday or Friday delivery much less processing the United States Mail, YOUR snail ,mail. Okay then this nation is under a big time gun of bad economics, much less high energy costs. Farm prices while stable are starting to show some downsides. Corn is selling for a bit less, the ethanol bubble is near to bust. Oh don't say its over as alternative energy is important, but distribution is not coast to coast. Which means doing some late night thinking. But to even think these things out now they want one less day to do it. What's next? Instead of working harder and more , we as a nation are looking to taking a day off. Good to know our farming , trucking and yes us going towing are still going to be hard at it 7 days a week 365 days a year and in many cases 24 hours a day. But I ask how can our people expect to make money when ya'll don't want to work. Ya'll got to work to make money. Plus if your like me, if ya'll get SSA money, you can't work, or ya'll get docked SSA money or just flat get the boot from getting any SSA money, can we get any lazier? It's bad enuff that the mail. is so slow that it'd be easier to truck to Utah to get my wages than waiting for it in the mail. Now the nation wants to take another day off. The purpose as it has been said is to save money and fuel by not going to work. There is even talk about a resurgence of work at home jobs. Tele-commuting as its called. Ever tried hiring people to come to your pad to help work? Especially if the task you need done is best done by a lady? No I'm not talking about sleazy crap I'm talking doing secretarial work. Yet if you just happen to snag an applicant you risk your butt if she comes into your home. Just one slip of the mouth and your ass is in the cross bar motel or worse. Yet even with that everybody wants an extra day off. America get off your butts if ya'll want to get on yer feet. My opinion I could be wrong.

Online was offline Saturday

DDG T1

Yesterday was one of those dayz I'd like to completely forget. Seemz as though once again the Internet at least on my end took a healthy dump. Could not get fully on line no matter how I trued. Now then had to swallow some pride and go over yonder to Galaxy Computers. Saw the guy who ran the place and on Monday will take my computer over to get it checked over and fixed. But when I asked Saed if I could use a loaner was told no, they did not have one. No granted working on a $1,000.00 is not like rebuilding a $ 50,000.00 truck, but if your in business and one of your tools is your computer the guy that is if they want repeat business will give you a loaner, knowing that you make your living with that computer, just like I do when I'm doing up a classic big truck. I always make a loaner truck available since I know the only way that trucker is earning is if his wheels are turning. Same goes for farmers and ranchers. John Deere dealers know that if a crop is ready to come out of the field, then you lend that farmer a loaner combine or tractor. This assures you , your going to get paid and makes for a better relationship all around. Don't you wish every business thought this way. By the way to Computer Doc and Computer Warehouse, thanks but no thanks. Talk at ya'll later

When one dares to dance to a different band

DDG T1

Madonna, Howard Stern, WolfMan Jack, and ye ole AyreWolf here. All of us dedicated and still do to being different, willing to march to a different drummer or dance to a different band. All of us stepped into media. One to punk or rock music, the rest behind the mic on radio. Some went in front of the camera on TV although one of us(me) never really wanted to be a TV star just to put a dent for many who are forgotten. Mostly those of us trucking or going towing. Then there is WolfMan Jack, who pioneered edgy radio and one who defined edgy radio, Howard Stern. But in years gone by that was acceptable, today not so acceptable. Isn't it good that many inventions were proven years ago and advancements made years ago rather than today. Since in our modern nation innovation trying to build a dream or do what others say impossible, is not any longer tolerated or welcomed. Doing something out of the acceptable box today labels YOU a terrorist or worse. From the telephone to the personal Computer or PC, today would never get off the ground. Since all too many would say can't be done, your dreaming grandioso ideas. Not say thank you for trying to get something useful into my home or something that allows greater productivity. Madonna turns 50 today, 9 months before I do. Imagine that. Stern is still on the air albeit over satellite and WolfMan Jack, well somehow I think his spirit will be with us all. Just because I pulled the plug and will not be on Pocatello's cable channel 12, does not mean I will not be on TV. Nor radio. But like many celebrities and just those common Joe's who do radio shows I'm taking time off from being on the airwaves. Boise will be the first port of me getting back on TV, likewise KTOW/KDXC will be us in Glenn's Ferry by bout this time next year being the ears and mouthpiece of those trying to make a buck driving and owning a truck, likewise going towing. Things Hazzard County have not been shot in the head as far as I am concerned but, or me I'm putting that aspect of my life on the rear shelf, stripping much of the outside off and going towing like and with what I started, hence Highway Hooker Towing/ Dixie-Eagle Truck & Tractor Service. While I never got the chance to get someone to step in the seat I occupied at CH-12 in Pocatello, after all who the heck wants that grief? What needs finished there can be done from a distance. As the cooler weather creeps in,  I see what and where I need to get in gear here, more over when it begins snowing I plan to be going towing, past that I really do not care. But Pity the Fool if he or she wants to be different these days. As you'll be called a liar, or worse. Rather than gave a hardy thank you for trying. As I look back on my time in Pocatello, I ought to be given a refund for my attempt at helping Pocatello move into the 21st century, but then again sometimes the big bird wants to keep its head in the hole in the sand. Stay Truckin.

Saved by the Bell or at least one hell of a lot of phone calls

ADXT HEADER

After much consideration and thought I was able to save the rental in Glenn's Ferry Idaho. Which means repeating the efforts I started last week this time in getting my six out of Pocatello. Which in many ways will not only be good for me but you as members of the Hazzard County Knytes. Bottom line while not exactly moving home to Hazzard its purtty close and that means in a few months a bunch of things will begin to thaw out for real. As I awoke this morning still in Pocatello and after breakfast at McDonalds which any more is just as good as going any where else for grub in the morning I noticed that its getting cooler outside. The east to west winds while not real bad are blowing signaling an early winter. It will be a cold one for sure. At least I'll have the satisfaction of knowing while I know it snows in GF and all it'll be a bunch warmer. I'll also have the pleasure of knowing when it begins snowing , I'll be out towing and that means more green in my jeans. I watched from my shack here in Pocatello the Pocatello city council meeting on CH-11 here and saw that most that came for the public hearings on a bunch of issues were not going away satisfied with the politically correct answers gave by members of Pocatello's City Council including its mayor Roger Chase. The fact is that come re-election time Chas is going to have an uphill battle. So will many members of the current city council. There was once I had visions of running for office here, but the fact is I'm out of here and will enjoy watching Pocatello drown in is arrogance and ignorance. While I am leaving without the ole General and all , fact is I can build another one, in better condition and with a heap more Stuggots than the one I lost here. After all nothing is impossible in Hazzard County. Any mile have a bunch of packing to do see ya'll on the other side.

She's no relation but sure wish she was, looking into ancestors.

GAZZETTE1

When I was younger my Mom used to spoof me by telling me that Elizabeth Montgomery the star of yesterdays TV series Bewitched was related to me. The idea that Moms first name is Eudora, and the on screen mom of Elizabeth or Smantha Stevens the character that Elizabeth played's mom was named Endora was somehow believable. Although later in life Mom explained it was all in fun. Later in Life however the male star on the show did die of he same lung disease Mom did so there might have been a bewitching coincidence. Okay then but the history of my names sake rolls from Alabama to New York and all the way to Ireland where my grandparents on my Dad's side of my family came from. Our families history is always one of those interesting parts of life's search quests. It can become very interesting to learn things of our families that we never knew. From the time I was merely 6 years old although somehow I knew I had them but never had the fact made valid until one day when defending myself from a bully at school, that the same kid I was fighting told me I had a brother whom was MIA. In Vietnam. I brought up the subject with Mom and Dad at dinner that night and it would be several days until they told me the real story. Could that be why Mom And Dad spoiled me so much and opened so many doors or at least as many doors for me to explore that they did? Who knows, but for years I have been searching for information on that just if for no other reason to satisfy the question in my mind. Any time I see the last name Montgomery anywhere I begin to search, to see if perhaps there is a connection between my family or me and someone else. Like Poppy Montgomery one of the stars of TNT's series Without a trace. She is great looking of course, and while she no doubt is no relation does make you wonder if she is. One famous or not depending on your view was the person who played the on TV DJ at Boss Hogg's radio station on the TV series Dukes-of-Hazzard. I found out during my close relationship with the entire cast and producers of that show that TV star Richie Montgomery is a relation of mine. Richie is he son of one of my Uncles, on my Dads side. That's all I'll say about that, but sometimes its neat to trace ones heritage. Some times the connection can open doors one never thought. Richie's character is strange somehow in that in life I do radio for all things Hazzard, and on TV Richie did radio for things Hazzard. Keep it tween the ditches.

The History of the Rode Knytes Association

hazzpix2 024

The history of the Rode Knytes Association goes back to the very foundation of all that came after including the Hazzard County Knytes Kustmz Association. In 1968 a bunch of youth who belonged to Pack 303 Layton Utah of the Cub Scouts yes I was one of them, collected and customized mini diecast cars and trucks. So in a year or so later a bunch of us got together and started what was called the Hot Wheels Customz Club. Where we would meet and show off our miniature hot rods. In 1970 my Dad bought me my first motor bike, a Suzuki MT-50 J Trail-Hopper. The dealer who sold it to my dad the owner of that dealership's son Correy Hansen John Muir, Brad Lee, Kent Jcobson and I started a mini bike group. As we grew up so did our rides. In 1974 after my parents and I moved to Idaho, the idea of a grass roots hot rod group, was put together under the banner of the Street Commanders Club. The words Street Commanders came from the name gave as a model name to a truck built by White Motor Company, called the Road Commander. In 1975 the work began to build the nations first youth based long haul over the road truckers 4-H club. The 4-H clubs foundation was based on both the 4-H Wheels Program and the 4-H Tractor safety program mixed together. In 1976 the TeenAge Truckers Association was born. The organization was modeled after the Independent Truckers Association founded by the creator of the magazine Overdrive.  In early 1978 the TTA was renamed since many of us were no longer teenagers into the Diesel Truckers Association where it lived quite well, until I discovered all things Hazzard County. As the Hazzard County Knytes grew it seemed to me that our core group and why we were together to begin with, so in 2004 the idea of reigniting the core group was brought up with some of the original members of the Street Commanders Club, namely Correy Hansen, Myself, John Muir and Sam Beeson. We met at Waganers in Roy Utah and after a few too many sodas, onion rings and a few burgers, the concept of the Rode Knytes Association was formed. Now came the hard part, what to call it? Where to base it? And how to recruit new membership? We knew that to attract membership we needed to spin up a national group. Now most of us were members of the Owner Operator Independent Truckers Association or OOIDA, and as well most of us were more into going towing rather than going trucking. So the concept of basing he group as a towing trade group was the basics. Still what to call it. One evening some of us were at my home in Bountiful Utah sitting on the sofa, and floor watching the original Blue Collar Comedy special with Larry the Cable Guy, and so on. The bar on the show was called the Rode House. So one of our friends said well we are the adult version of the Hazzard County Knytes(knights) we are the true knights of the road and thus in 2005 the Rode Knytes Association was born and certified, as the nations number 3 towing trade group. But long haul OTR truckers thought what we were doing was keen as well. So some of them got together with us and in 2006 the national group was formed as the United American Independent Truckers Association. Or UAITA. The only Independent long haul OTR truckers group that had and has a sibling dedicated to us going towing. With that the Rode Knytes became the Mountain West chapter of what is the United American Road Resque Towing Association. And the rest as they say is history. The group maintains our connection to the Hazzard County Knytes and all that makes that up. Wanna challenge this Mr Ben Whatsyournutts? Here you see time frames and real names. There was another statement that this MonkeyWrencher said as well. There is nothing wrong with being a common Joe. I have never ever wanted to be bigger than life, etc. Quite the opposite. All I care about is tooling on old trucks, old warbirds, and going towing with my one, truck, one and a half ton tow truck, and live simply. But as my Dad said to me when I was young when complaining ask can I myself fix it. Dad used to say don't bitch, elect to fix. The list of accomplishments of our group runs deep. Some only suggested by me, some worked on by myself and some done with the group but I have never ever taken credit for anything that the organization has done or been successful with. However I will say this, when the concept of  first responders medical support program was brought up by me through the Hagerman Fire Department as a Boy Scouts Explorer Post I was told I was nutts. However with some seed money provided by my dad, along with a Federal Grant in 1978 Hagerman's QRU was created, but I never did get the thank you I deserved, nor do I ask for it now, but some respect is due. The fact is purtty simple that my Dad and Mom through many years service to our nations Military and following civil service at Hill Air Force Base, the fact that both my parents stuck together and built what they did through many years of hard work, scrimping and saving and never doing credit cards or putting themselves in debt, plus knowing how to invest money for the long haul, gave me paths and opportunities that few kids had. When my parents passed away, Dad in April 1978, the same month and year I got LexiBelle, and Mom in March of 1983 they left to my understanding the exact amount in both property, investments and holdings right at $3million bucks. Much of that was lost in taxes, poor other investments, which left in 1990 when cousin Bud took over said Trust Fund a little over $700,000.00 When I lost the money of some $600,000.00 $100,000.00 has been ate up in legal fees and its understood that by years end all of the $600,000.00 will be recovered. When it does I'm going to be in a spot to invest most of that into my business and help the Hazzard County Knytes, The Rode Knytes and other groups I have been part of recover and be what they were once. Anyone want to challenge that? My ability to make something better for myself is limited but I don't give up. Even if some fartknockers in Pocatello wants to rain on my party. Sorry haulers but all this barn yard needs to be aired out, but remember I never started this feud but I wont back down either.
